She always and only served this nut bar treat during the holidays. The sugar on top made it seem magical and gave it that other worldly sense.We continue the tradition in our home for our children and family. See recipes we’ve shared from the past two Thanksgivings: Wolf Family Apple Crisp Recipe (2016) and Family Stuffing Recipe from Wolf and Donnelly Families (2015).Wolf Family Date Nut Bar Recipe1 cup of sugar3 eggs⅞ cups of all purpose flour1 teaspoon of double acting baking powder⅛ teaspoon of salt¼ teaspoon of ground cloves¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon½ teaspoon of allspice1 teaspoon of vanilla extract2 cups of chopped dates1 cup broken nuts (choose your favorite)Confectioners’ sugarPreheat oven to 325°F. In a bowl, sift sugar. In another bowl beat 3 eggs until light. Mix sugar into egg mix.Then add 7/8 cup all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon double acting baking powder, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves, 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon allspice, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Beat all the ingredients until they are well blended.Now add 2 cups chopped dates and 1 cup broken nuts.Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9×13 inch pan.
