Set ThreeHBU surrendered the lead just once in the third set as Banks and Gillard both had four kills to lead HBU to a 25-21 win with Megan Patillo adding three kills. NSU produced just nine kills on a .056 hitting percentage with Kathryn Wristen tallying eight assists. Wooten led the Huskies five kills while Gillard, Bailey Banks and Megan Patillo each added a pair. The Lady Demons’ Reagan Rogers led all hitters with eight kills on the set, making up half of NSU’s kills. Northwestern State’s Reagan Rogers led all hitters with 17 of the Lady Demons’ 35 kills. Senior outside hitters Jessica Wooten and Bailey Banks each reached double-figures with Wooten ending with 12 kills while Banks picked up 10 to lead a .204 hitting day for HBU. Junior setter Madison O’Brien dished out 29 assists on 40 kills for the Huskies, and the HBU defense put up nine blocks. Set TwoDown 21-20, HBU strung five straight points to take the set and head into the third with the 2-0 lead. Wooten led the offense with six kills while Banks backed her up with four. The Huskies’ defense combined for four blocks to the Lady Demons’ one, limiting the NSU attack to a .079 clip. For the second straight set, Rogers claimed half of the Lady Demons’ kills, downing five. HBU will now contest No. 8 Abilene Christian in the first semifinal Saturday at noon on the Southland Digital Network.last_img
