Three star Trumbull (CT) St. Joseph quarterback David Summers committed to the Orange during an official visit. Summers had previously been committed to Maryland, but chose not to sign with the Terps during the early signing period. The 6-foot-3 quarterback was offered by his primary recruiter, Syracuse defensive coordinator Brian Ward last Wednesday. Summer is ranked the 36th best prostyle quarterback in the 2019 class by the 247 Sports Composite. He is the ninth best player in Connecticut overall.Summers committed to Maryland on May 21, 2018. That was when D.J. Durkin was still the head coach prior to being suspended in August after reports surfaced regarding the toxic culture within the program. Durkin was fired on October 31st. Matt Canada served as interim head coach and led the Terps to a 5-7 record including 3-6 in the Big-10. On December 4th, Maryland hired Mike Locksley as their head coach.Summers is a 6-foot-3 pro-style QB out of Trumbull, Connecticut.The quarterback recruit is ranked the No. 9 overall player in the state of Connecticut. He’s also received interest from Pittsburgh and Rutgers, among other programs.Syracuse’s 2019 class is ranked the No. 60 class in the country.
