The victim told police he’d had an argument with 30-year-old Christopher Ryans outside his apartment, but went inside and closed his door. Right after the door closed, the victim said he heard a gunshot and was hit in the leg.Ryans has been charged with second-degree assault and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. He was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $45,000 bond. Nearly half a dozen shootings happened in Tuscaloosa County over the weekend, leaving one person in critical condition and several others injured. Here’s a roundup:Jemison Avenue, May 25Latoya Shardae Ward, 31, was charged with attempted murder May 25, 2019.Tuscaloosa Police responded to the 2200 block of Jemison Avenue May 25 around 2 p.m. on a shots-fired call.When they arrived, police found a 31-year-old woman who said that when she arrived at her boyfriend’s house she got into a fight with another 31-year-old woman who was already there.The victim said that woman, now identified as Latoya Shardae Ward, was armed with a knife so the victim pepper-sprayed her. That’s when Ward went to a vehicle, grabbed a pistol and fired at the victim several times. The victim was not hot.Ward has been charged with attempted murder and was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $50,000 bond. DCH Regional Medical Center reportThe Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to DCH Regional Medical Center around 6 p.m. May 26 after a 32-year-old man came to the emergency room in a private vehicle after he’d been shot in the chest.Police said the victim told deputies he was around Fifth Street Northeast in Holt when a black Honda containing several men drove by. The victim said one of those men called his name while another stepped out of the car and shot him.Deputies and investigators said they couldn’t locate the scene of the crime. The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening, deputies said. Both victims were taken to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment, but the woman has since been taken to UAB Hospital and is suffering serious injuries. The man was released from DCH, but has not been able to provide investigators with any new information.Both victims were sitting inside a vehicle parked in front of an apartment building when an unknown suspect began firing into the vehicle. Police said the only description they have of this suspect is that he is a black man who was dressed in all black.Investigators are still processing the scene and attempting to locate witnesses and find a motive for the shooting. More than 15 shots were fired into the vehicle.Hay CourtWhile officers were at Creekwood Apartments on the above shooting, they heard more gunfire in the area.Soon after a 20-year-old woman told police she was inside her Hay Court apartment when it was shot into by an unknown person.Police said they don’t yet know if the Hay Court and Creekwood shootings are related.last_img
